TULSA, Okla., March 12, 2009 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- ONEOK, Inc. (NYSE: OKE) announced today that Geoffrey A. Sands, 46, will become vice president of environment, safety and health, effective April 1, 2009.
In his new position, he will report to James C. Kneale, president and chief operating officer of ONEOK and ONEOK Partners, and will be responsible for strengthening the organization's capabilities related to protecting the environment, safety and health of all employees, contractors, customers and communities where the company operates.
"Geoff's experience and expertise will be valuable as we continue to unify and further improve our environmental, safety and health program and performance to benefit all of our stakeholders," Kneale said.
Sands joins ONEOK from DCP Midstream where his responsibilities included several years as vice president of environment, health and safety, and various operating assignments. Before joining DCP Midstream, he was an environment, health and safety representative and manager, as well as an operations asset manager, with GPM Gas Corporation, a division of Phillips Petroleum. Prior to that, he was a safety engineer with Texas Employers Insurance Association and Crum & Forster. He began his career as a field engineer with Halliburton Services.
Sands graduated from the University of Texas, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum engineering. He is also a member of the Gas Processors Association, serving on the organization's EHS Oversight Committee.
